A Day at the Park

We've had some really beautiful days here in Tallahassee. It's weird, because it's January. Anyway, after Lish played basketball yesterday morning and I went on my run (7.8 miles!), we decided to head over to the park. With Jazz in tow, we played bocce ball, went on a long walk, and then pulled out a picnic blanket and just soaked up the sun. We were there for over a couple hours and it started getting a little windy and chilly, so we packed up and left. It cooled off a lot last night and somewhat today, so we're SO glad we made it out there yesterday. We love spending time outside!

Basketball, 1st Birthday and Running in the Park

Lish and I still haven't had too much on our plates lately. Just living the same ole life. Good life. The same ole good life.

Anywho, Lish just started playing intramural basketball the other night, so I grabbed my camera. I hadn't taken any pictures in a while, so here are some out of focus, weird colored pictures. Ah, action pictures in bad lighting. Nothing quite like it.In other news... it was my niece's 1st birthday yesterday. Isn't she just the cutest?Lish and I have decided to start going to the park on Tuesdays after I get off work. It's our new tradition. We just started it 2 days ago. I got off work, we hopped in the car with Jazz, and took off. I went for a run and Lish walked with Jazz, but at this park they have some hiking and biking trails. I went on one of them and it took me to this beautiful view of a lake. It was amazing! I'm going to take Lish up there, but next time I'll take my camera.

Welp, that's about it for now. I'll try to be better about posting, but I'll try to keep it as interesting as possible. For you, my dear readers. It's all for you.

Okay, it's for me too.

Small and Simple Things

Life has been pretty chill lately. And by chill I mean nothing exciting is going on. And by nothing exciting, I mean it, for the most part. I do have a few "small and simple things" to share.

Last week I got home from work and Lish said, "Whit, what's wrong?"
Me: "I don't know. I'm just in a weird mood."
L: "I'm in a weird mood too. I don't know why."
Me: "Hm, maybe we should bake a cake."

It totally worked. That cake looked and smelled and tasted delicious and we got to enjoy it for the rest of the week! Lish went and played basketball that night and I stayed home and did a workout video. When Lish got back home, he asked what I did that night. I told him, "What I wanted to do was sit in front of the TV and veg while snacking on some cereal. But I didn't." He suggested we have a cereal party the next night for dinner.

Moving on to the next night... I got home from work and went for a run. While I was out running, Lish went to the grocery store and bought 7, yes, SEVEN, boxes of cereal. We already had 3 different kinds, but that just wasn't enough for our cereal party. WE LOVE CEREAL! So we had cereal, pop tarts, and fruit for dinner. It was pretty much amazing.

Last, but not least, I am a runner. Yes, I run and I enjoy it. Who woulda thunk? I decided back in November that I wanted to run a 10K. I couldn't find a 10K around Tallahassee, but I found a 15K in a city that's 2 1/2 hours away from here. But that's 2 1/2 hours away and we'd have to pay for a hotel, and the expenses started building up for this race. So, I checked again and there is a 12K race right here in Tally on February 20th. And yours truly is going to run in it. I'm excited! I ran the length of a 10K just a week and a half ago, and it felt great!

And what's even better is that I get a t-shirt with a picture of "The Flash" on it. This is going to be the best. race. ever!

Conversations with Patients...

... require patience. Here is how a conversation with a patient went this morning:

(P=Patient, M=Me)
P: What should I do for back pain?
M: Are you experiencing back pain now as well?
P: Yes, but I think it's because I'm getting older. Don't you get back pain?
M: No, I've been lucky.
P: But you get more back pain when you get older. And you don't have any?
M: Nope. How old do you think I am?
P: I don't know...34 or 35.
M: No, you're quite a few years off.
P: Oh, are you in your 50's? 60's?

Are you kidding me?

Then another patient this afternoon:

M: Oh, I see D___ turned on some music. I bet that was nice.
P: It was so relaxing.
M: (Listening more closely to the music) I really like Enya. I know it's so dorky, but I do.
P: My grandma really likes her too.

I guess I am just a 24 year old who looks 50 and acts 50.

Nice.

Utah and California Christmas

We have a TON of pictures from our trip, so I made some collages for your enjoyment! We had such a wonderful time back west. We loved being able to see SOOO much family and see so many friends. We're so grateful for everything that was done to help us get out there and for all the things we were able to do while we were out there. It was definitely one of the most fun vacations we've had.

I think you get a basic idea of the things we did from the pictures, so I won't get into that. We loved getting to be able to spend the holidays with our family. We think they're pretty cool.

Anyway, enjoy the pictures!
