Lici Visits Yale

I no longer feel like my life is super exciting or noteworthy. I know, how can I think such a thing? Every day with Yale is exciting and noteworthy. It's true. I'm just having too much fun to take time to write about it.

Anyway, we had a bunch of family come down a couple weeks ago. Scott, Karen, Maggie and Lici all made the trek down here. Maggie was spending some time in Utah while her husband finished his internship, so to break up her time a little bit we invited her to come down here. We had so much fun with everybody, and while it was a house-full, we loved the time we got to spend with our family.

Florida Friends in Utah

I've got some catching up to do, but I'll split them into a couple different blogs so you all have something to look forward to. I know, I'm very thoughtful.

A couple weeks ago we had some visitors and we were so excited to have them here! Jen, Trevor and Stokes came over from Tallahassee. They were out in Utah for a family reunion, so they just extended their trip (or cut their other trip short, I'm not quite sure) so they could come down to St. George for a few days. Trevor's brother came down as well because he had never been to this part of the country (southern Utah, he's been to northern Utah). It was so fun to have them here. We went into Zion, the Grand Canyon, Snow Canyon, and just played around here for a day.

We were busy. It was lovely.

It sure made me miss Tallahassee. I guess not the city, but the people. There are some good people there. If you ever get to go, feel lucky. I sure love those friends of ours and can't wait to see them again!

Swimming,Boating, Summer Fun

Hey blogging world. I'm back. I have less and less motivation to blog these days. Why? Is blogging a "dying art," unless you have some amazing blog that you're super good at? Lift me up with comments, dear readers! Keep me going!

These past few weeks have been busy, and then not so busy. I love summertime. The sunshine, the warmth, the little guy in tank tops and a diaper. It's lovely. But there was a couple week period when we were all sick. And it was sad. Little guy had a temp of 104 when I took him to the doctor. And a sad cough. We snuggled a lot. But then because of the snuggling, I got sick. Then Lish got sick. Not because of snuggling though, because, as he likes to remind me, it's not snuggling season. So maybe he just got it from all the germy doorknobs. During that time Karen and Scott came down, which was nice to have some other people around to help with the sickies. We didn't do anything that weekend.

As we were feeling better, I got an email from Lish saying, "Pick out a camera and then buy it." So I did. That same day I got an early birthday present. It was definitely early since my birthday isn't for another 2 months, but I love it. I got a Nook. And it's lovely. That was a good day.

So now I have pictures again! I know you missed them. I obviously did too, since I took almost 200 in less than a week.

Yale was in swimming lessons last week. He doesn't know how to swim, but he went from not wanting to get in the water at all, to getting in and kicking his legs while on his belly and blowing bubbles. He's pretty awesome.

Courtney and Alex came down last week. Alex's family does a couple boating trips each summer and one of them is in St. George, so they were able to make it and stayed with us while they were here. It was so nice to spend time with them! They definitely made things more lively around here (with Courtney screaming bloody murder one morning and what not). Plus, Lish and Alex got free French toast from Kneaders, so I'd say that made for a successful weekend.

We got to go out on the boat on Friday and I tried wake boarding. I tried and failed about a dozen times. I'm still sore. Yale enjoyed being on the boat, but didn't like it so much when I kept falling. He would scream and cry when I crashed. He's very protective of me. And I think he likes me and doesn't like to see me hurt. I'm glad we have so many mutual feelings.

That's about all we've been up to. Lots of time in the water trying to cool off. Lots of time trying to make sure Yale isn't bored. Lots of time running in preparation for my death marathon. It's been a great summer so far!

Grandma K's 60th and Grandpa M's Visit

Remember how Yale turned one? Me too. We spent his birthday weekend up in SLC with Karen and Scott. It was Karen's 60th birthday that weekend, so we had lots of celebrating to do. Maggie and Lisi flew out as well, which means we had a grand time! Except that poor little Lisi was sick all weekend. We still got in some playtime.

After we got home, we spent a couple days preparing for some company. Mitch, Lish's dad, flew into Vegas on Wednesday, and Maggie and Lisi flew into St. George. (Yes, for those of you who don't know, St. George has its own airport. It's very exciting.) We didn't do too much while everyone was down here. We explored St. George a little bit, visited Lish's office, went to a couple parks. You know, the normal low-key stuff you can do with 2 babies, 4 adults, and 1 car.

It was so fun to have them all visit. I loved getting to see Yale and Lisi interact, now that they can kind of play together. And by that I mean play side-by-side. And I loved getting to see Mitch play with his grandkids. He's a natural grandpa. It was also fun to spend time with Lish, Maggie and Mitch, as they reminisced and brought tears to their eyes from laughing so hard. There was a lot of joy going on around here last week. It was lovely.
