Too Soon for Another One?

Heck no! Shout out to my stepbrother Dallas! Happy birthday Dal!

What would our family be like without Dallas? No one likes this question because no one likes to think about it. Dallas is one of those people that lights up a room when he walks into it. He is full of so much positive energy, it's amazing. He's constantly doing things that normal people wouldn't do, such as trying waterboarding and making holes in his rolls to dump spoonfuls of jam into, all of which provides wonderful entertainment. He's so full of adventure. He's always trying new things. Dallas is a people pleaser. He always enjoys making people laugh, and he does an extremely good job at it.

(Dallas is on the bottom. Whenever I picture him, this is the first thing that comes to mind.)

Dallas has an amazing heart. He is so caring. It's easy to tell if you're someone important in Dallas's life because he shows it. Everything he does is sincere. He really does have a huge heart and I love that about him. Lish and I talk about how impressive it is. Plus, he gives the greatest hugs. I love going back to visit and getting those hugs from him.

So happy birthday Dallas! I'm so glad to call you family and I hope you've had a wonderful day!

My Darling 27 Year Old

This is the package from Lish's sister and brother-in-law. They're so thoughtful!

And this was on his actual birthday. Happy birthday Lish! Glad you were so excited that I got you Transformers!
Lish's birthday dinner. I just like this picture because look at my portion of steak, compared to Lish's portion. And notice that I have a green salad, and Lish does not. Also, we had to bring that bowl of jello salad over because Lish ate about half of it.
And this was last night. Celebrations with the friends! Thanks so much for hanging out and making his birthday so great guys!
I also just had to post these photos. He's still the same kid he was over 15 years ago. I love him!

Shout Out to My Favorite!

Happy birthday Lish! My amazing husband turns __ old today! Alright, it's 27. I don't think he cares about people knowing his age, even if he is creeping up on 30. That dear old man. (Just kidding, love you!)

I've been excited about doing this "Shout Out" ever since I decided to do them. Why? Because Lish is amazing. He is my favorite person and my best friend! For anyone who has ever met Lish, you know why I think he is so amazing. This guy can be put in a room with anybody or a whole group of people, and in 5 minutes they'd have found something to talk about and they'd made a great relationship. He is so easy going and so fun to be around. He's a big teaser too. I love that we can joke about pretty much anything and he's so lighthearted about it all. He is also one of the most caring people I've ever met. He really wants his family and his friends to be happy and to know that he's there for them and he does a good job showing that.

I know this sounds dumb, but Lish has an amazing brain. The way he thinks about things and solves any problems or dilemmas he has is astounding to me. He can look at things from so many different angles and figure out the best way to do something. I always feel like I have to ask his opinion or advice about something because I feel like if I don't, I'm missing something.

He also has an amazing way with words. It's like he's a natural poet at heart. When it comes to things he loves, he has an incredible passion about it. He is completely dedicated (which was great while we were dating since I was such a poop) and such a hard worker. He does things for me every day to remind me that he loves me. He goes out of his way to do so much for anyone who needs anything from him. He is an amazing friend and an even better husband. I am so lucky to have him in my life!

As you know, I could go on and on, but I won't. The post would be much too long. But happy birthday dear husband of mine! I love you so much and I'm so happy to have you by my side as we go through eternity together!

And By The Way

Comments are welcome and encouraged. I like knowing who's reading and what they're thinking. You guys aren't talking to me!

Special Olympics

I know I've been awful about posting lately. Really though, not much has been going on. I write the exciting stuff that happens, but it's pretty slow for us around here lately.

This last weekend, Lish and I had the chance to volunteer at the Special Olympics. We helped with the concession stands, so we didn't get to see many of the events, but we had a great time. It's amazing to me to see all these people with their special needs, and to see how genuinely happy they are. They always find the good in any situation, and it's such a great reminder for me. We had a great time helping out (aside from my allergies kicking in big time). I love that all these kids get a day where they can all get together and just play and have a good time. We were so tired by the end of it that we took a 2 1/2 hour nap afterwards. It was so worth it!

Don't we look tired? Because we were.

Too Much Good

You know how when you're cruising through life, everything is going well, things are looking up, you know something's going to happen. You start thinking, "I believe it's almost time for something bad too happen to me. Yes, it's been a while." That's how I had been feeling a little bit. Then the event happend last night.

Our transmission is shot. It had been acting weird for a while, but I thought the weather (all of our cold fronts) was just messing with it. Then we took it down to Orlando on Saturday and on the way home it was acting up again. I knew after I drove it to work yesterday that we needed to get it looked at right away. Then when I barely made it to the end of our street after work, I knew something was terribly wrong. But, at least it didn't break down on the freeway. At least I made it almost all the way home. At least we were safe. Of course we're out of a car for the next couple of days and have another expense to pay.

On the bright side, I pulled my hair back into a ponytail today. I haven't been able to do that for a year!

Finally, an Update!

We, the Harris duo, have been slacking on our updates. Remember when we used to do them weekly? Well, we've broken that, haven't we? Lish has been busy and so have I, but I've also been lazy.

Anyway, I thought, what better time to do an update than now? The longer we put it off, the more I'll not want to get around to it with so much to catch up on. Then as I continued this thought, I remembered we don't have much to catch up on to this point anyway. But we're both alive and well and that's a good thing to report.

Lish has been keeping himself ultra busy. He's taking his comprehensive exams at the end of the month! I can't believe they're coming up so quickly, and neither can he, but he's looking forward to the day when he knows he's passed them and doesn't have to worry about them ever again! While he is busy studying for these exams, he's also having to keep up with his coursework. He's taking 2 other classes on campus, plus the one that he's teaching. I don't know how he gets everything done during the day and still has time to hang out with me in the evenings and do the laundry. He never ceases to amaze me. He's participating in a city league basketball team again, and they've been doing well. The only losses they've had have all been to the same team, so we're also looking forward to the day when we've given them a lesson in humility! He's enjoying playing and it's a nice release for him. It's fun to watch him play.

I've been busy at work (except for right now, which is why I'm writing this post). We've been out of a receptionist since the very beginning of February, but my bosses have finally hired someone and she starts on Monday. I'm excited to not be getting pulled in so many different directions. Our patient load has been increasing too, which is a great thing. When I get home from work though, I usually don't want to do much, hence the laziness factor. I'm continuing to go to my ballet classes once a week, and I'm loving it! Dancing really is one of my biggest passions.

We're both doing well with our church callings. I just gave another talk in Sacrament about a week and a half ago, which went over well. For those of you wondering, Jazz is doing well too. With the weather starting to warm up, she's been shedding, which is gross. She's getting her haircut next week though, so that will help. We enjoy having her around!

We really haven't done much else. Our lives are pretty regular and routine around here these days. We're happy and healthy, so no complaints. We hope everyone else is doing well also. We love you all!
